It’s been awhile…

I mostly post on Twitter now. Life is okay now, except I’ve been sick since Christmas and my apartment is at least partially to blame. Let me know if you want details, but it’s looking like its about time to move out. Granted I didn’t want to move out until I moved back to Owensboro, but with me having absolutely 0 luck finding a job there, things aren’t looking so bright.

In December, I finally upgraded my phone and purchased an 8gb iPhone. Now, its useless to me as a phone as I can not hear anyone through any function, whether it be earpiece, headphone, speakerphone, or bluetooth, even. I can hear voicemail, listen to music, text, internet, take pictures fine except for hearing while on a call. Weird, I know. I drove to Louisville on Saturday (3/21) to go to the Apple Store and after approximately a 5 minute wait and a 5 second inspection, they informed me that they would not service the phone due to water damage. Unfortunately, the phone had never been wet but their moisture sensor had been tripped. (I have a feeling it may have had something to do with the apartment situation, but I’m not 100% sure and can’t be sure…) So, I’ve bought another one, and this time I plan on getting a case for it so that this type of thing won’t happen again.

Classes are going well and we’re a week and a half or so past mid-term so classes are flying by… I’m not sure what classes I’ll take next semester, but if I’m back in Owensboro, I am going to try to take at least one on campus class and I don’t think I’m going to go full time, but I may. Full time online, while being a lot of work if its not 2×2 bitermed classes, is also a lot more expensive than taking 3 online and 1 on campus. So, we’ll see what happens but I am liking WKU compared to EKU. It feels like I have more control over the types of courses I can take. I can’t wait to be done though!

The car is doing well. I’ve put over 20,000 miles on it since I purchased it on 5 July 2008. I believe it averages out to about 75 miles per day for that time period. It’s going well, which is good, because we’ll be taking it to Nashville in April to see Dave Matthews and to Chicago in August to see Jimmy Buffett. Plans to see U2 in September/October time frame are also in the works, too. I can’t wait to see both DMB and Jimmy Buffett… We’ve been able to sell our original tickets to my sister’s friend and upgrade our seats for the same price as the old ones for Dave Matthews and we have some great seats. Here’s a diagram of the seating change. As for Jimmy Buffett, I’ve been wanting to see Buffett live for some time now, and we finally made it happen. The tickets aren’t the absolute greatest, but it will be a great experience and we can try for better seats next time. As for U2, I have lots of friends interested, so its just down to ticket availability, which I’m sure won’t be easy. We’re looking at either Chicago or Atlanta for the U2 show.

I guess that’s about all for now… Keep track on Twitter for more from me, but I’ll still be back here from time to time to post. Until then…

Quick Update

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was accepted at WKU and will be going back in the fall. Hopefully, I’ll only have 4 semesters and I’ll be done.

I am looking for a job in Owensboro as I am quite wanting to move back to the area. It will also be nice to be closer to WKU in the event I’ll need to be on campus for something.

Have fun, everybody!

It’s Late

Probably way too late to be writing this, but here’s goes.

I just withdrew from my summer and fall courses from EKU. Also, I have filled out and have ready to mail a transcript request from EKU and submitted my application for readmission to… Western. Yes – Western. The school I wanted to attend as a freshman in high school – and the school I briefly attended after my 3 years at OCTC. Why Western? Well, I can most probably get out of there faster than I can at EKU. I’m hoping 2 years is all I’ll need – possibly less if I can swing it.

I’ll still be living up in Richmond for the time being, may decide to move closer to work – Winchester, where I can take courses at the community college – or maybe try to find something in/around Owensboro so I can take courses at WKU-O. Anyways, as I said before, it’s late. Just wanted to share – good night.

Update

So its Spring Break – and I’m in Richmond. Hooray. I have to work, which isn’t too surprising. I finally got my co-op paper work turned in and approved. Now I can’t quit my job until May. I wasn’t planning on it, but now I have no choice.

I had a pretty good birthday – got to see lots of friends which is always good. I purchased my new firearm – the CZ 75 Kadet. I am already looking for my upgrade to it even though I have yet to fire my CZ. I saw the Ruger SR9 today, and a friend suggested the Springfield XD – on top of the option of going with another CZ in a larger caliber. I still have plenty of time to decide as I won’t be purchasing an upgrade for a while but I do want to look. I still need to purchase a holster for my CZ but it can wait. I really want to put some rounds through it – and it’s definitely cheap enough. I purchased 550 rounds for $13 and change at Walmart recently. As stated in a previous post, this is one of the major reasons for purchasing a .22 caliber.

Speaking of firearms, I recently spoke to the guy in charge of EKU’s chapter of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. Seems like a nice enough guy and hopefully I will be joining the ranks of the organization. Recently, I’ve been active on the UK chapter of SCCC’s website (it helps that my friend Mike is the webmaster). Concealed carry on campus is something I strongly believe in, for reason’s I won’t get in to at the present, and I hope we can shed some light on the subject.

Anyways – I’ll wrap it up here. I’ll post more later.

Update: School

I think I’m going to stick with the CEN program as it will require fewer credits than I previously thought due to some transfers that haven’t taken place yet. I currently hate my classes right now and, quite frankly, I’m doing horrible in them, but I’ll get through somehow.

School Stuff…

Hey everyone…

I’m considering switching majors from Computer Electronic Networking to Computer Information Systems – Network Management. My advisor says there will be more Database administration in the CIS-NetworkMgmt curriculum… which sounds more along the lines of what I want to do. I’m really not getting this electronics stuff… Any comments?

Craziness Indeed…

So its about 8 months later and here I am. Sitting in my apartment on a friday night not doin’ much of anything.

I love it up here in Richmond – I have enjoyed my first semester at EKU and I am looking forward (somewhat) to my next semester here. I am not taking as many classes as I had originally hoped but that stems from having to work and a lack of classes that I need offered at on a schedule I can utilize. I am still working at EDS – which surprises me since I didn’t think I’d be there over 2 months because I thought I’d be working in Richmond. Obviously, I was wrong. I like it at EDS but I do wish for something else – preferably closer – but its okay for now. At least they’re flexible with school.

I miss home… I miss my family and friends… I miss Martin’s which got destroyed in October due to the tornadoes that swept through Owensboro. Going home just isn’t the same without Martin’s and I guess I never realized that until now – granted I have only been home 2 times since Martin’s was demolished and one of those times was for less than 6 hours.

Other things have changed too… Adam got married… Andy moved back to Murray and took a better job with the University down there. I have started an interest in guns – fueled by my friend Mike whose is the proud owner of an awesome 12 gauge and membership to Blue Grass Sportsman’s League. The same Mike who recently just got an apartment in Lexington and will be moving in very soon after Christmas. I have also started wearing glasses occasionally. I think they will help with me having headaches at work, plus the help me see better and I think they look good.

Anyways, life is changing. We can’t stop it from changing, nor do we realize it is changing, but we do need to be aware that it is and utilize this change for the good.

Let the craziness begin!!

On Friday, April 13, 2007, I left Owensboro for a job interview with EDS in Winchester. On Monday, April 16, I interviewed for another position with the same company. I got the job and I’ll start Monday the 23rd.

When I got to EDS on Monday, I talk to John, the guy that is the network security supervisor. We discuss a few things, and then he says, “follow me… I’m gonna let you shadow some of the guys in my department”. I go back to his department and meet some of the guys… nice folks (geeks.. definitely a good thing!)… and watch them go about their tasks… I do this for about a hour or so and then John asks me if I can start TOMORROW. I had to decline… citing that I didn’t live here yet, and so Monday became my start date.

Following that, I left EDS, paperwork that I need to fill out in hand and head to Richmond. Taking a tip from Rachel Ray, I asked some of the guys in the dept. if they’ve ever lived in Richmond. A few of the guys suggested Foxglove Apartments. I check them out and I have a list of about 7 units that I went to and checked out. I narrowed it down to three: http://home.poptartweb.org/aptpics/. As I looked back on the three… I have pretty much narrowed it down to the $400/month location on Patsy. It’s a 1br/1ba, but it will suit my needs. I filled out the form today and faxed and mailed it to the company. It takes 24-48 hours to get an approval, and I’d really like to start moving in on Saturday. They said that I could fax it up there and they’d start looking at it while the actual application and check was in the mail.

I’ll miss Owensboro… but this will be what needs to happen so that I can finish up school at EKU.

One Step Closer…

So I got a letter from EKU yesterday… I got accepted! I wasn’t too worried, but this is definately some good news.

Now I just gotta find a job somewhere up there and I’ll be set!
