The BNL concert was last night and it was GREAT! I felt bad for the other people that I went with as they got their seats before I got my friend Josh and I’s seats, and we were actually closer! We were 11 rows from the stage in Row K about middle or to the right of the middle of the row (seats 19 and 20). I took lots of pics and thankfully, some of them turned out good. You can check them out here. The show was at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino in their outside amphitheater and it was hot, but it cooled down some with a nice breeze. It started lightning in the distance to the west about three-fourths through the show and started raining as we were heading to the cars. Well, maybe TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR would be a better way to describe it.
BNL came out and played for a good 2 hours or so, and, while I don’t have a full set list, among the songs played were “One Week”, “The Old Apartment”, “Pinch Me”, “For You”, “Maybe Katie”, and two of my favorite karaoke tunes – “Brian Wilson” and “If I Had $1,000,000”. BNL’s improvisation abilities are superb and added great enjoyment and comedy to the concert. The concert ended with “King of Bedside Manor” which included bits of Van Morrison’s “Moondance”.
It was a great venue and an amazing show, full of surprises – including sitting not 20 feet from Jared the Subway guy! I highly recommend seeing BNL as they are a great band and very funny. Horseshoe Southern Indiana has a great venue in its outdoor ampitheater and would also recommend seeing anyone there as it small and any seat is a great seat. Horseshoe Southern Indiana seems to be pulling some pretty big names with its Summer Concert Series. The Beach Boys and Reba have played recently at Horseshoe and Gretchen Wilson, Bob Dylan, and a Styx/Boston combined concert are coming up soon. You can view a list of the upcoming events at the outdoor ampitheater here.
